Reworld™ Hempstead had the honor of hosting the Blue Star Mothers, a nonprofit group that provides support for mothers who have sons or daughters in active service in the U.S Armed Forces.
Tasks throughout the day included removing stars from faded and worn unserviceable American flags to show support to troops. During the project, each star is placed in a small plastic bag with a note that reads, “I am part of our American flag that has flown over the U.S.A. I can no longer fly. The sun and winds have caused me to become tattered and torn. Please carry me as a reminder that You are not forgotten."
Maureen Early, a Lead Community Relations Specialist weighed in on the experience, in which, "The day was filled with many emotional stories and concerns for their active duty children, along with a lot of encouragement and support for each other. It was so amazing to witness!"
Thank you Blue Star Moms for allowing us to share the day with you!
