Customer FAQ
Fuel Surcharge
How is the Fuel Surcharge calculated?
For the U.S. business, the Reworld™ Fuel Surcharge rate will be variable and based on the objective, widely recognized, Department of Energy National Average Price for Diesel Price Index for the United States. The variable rate table, published below, references ranges for the U.S. national average diesel price published on the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) websitev.
Adjustments to the Fuel Surcharge will reflect both increases and decreases to the national average and will be updated on the first day of each the month to reflect the monthly average diesel price published during the previous month.

How is the Fuel Surcharge applied to an invoice?
The fee is applied only to hauling services provided by Reworld™ and all third-party vendors, excluding any other fees or taxes. Hauling services include material and equipment transportation, but do not include services such as equipment rental. The Fuel Surcharge total is listed on each applicable invoice as a separate invoice line.
What is the Fuel Surcharge structure for Canada business?
The Canadian Fuel Surcharge rate is variable and is based on the weekly rate that is published by the Freight Carriers Association of Canada (FCA). The FCA rates are based on Canadian domestic fuel calculations and are made available to subscribing members via the FCA website.

Environmental, Insurance and Security (EIS) Fee
What is the EIS Fee?
Reworld™ consistently evaluates ways to control operating costs, but there remain costs over which we have no control. The EIS Fee was designed and implemented to help cover those costs and to simultaneously ensure Reworld™ can provide compliant, dependable, and secure services to customers. The EIS Fee is applied to all services provided by Reworld™ excluding local, state, and federal taxes and fees.
Why does Reworld™ apply an EIS Fee to services?
As state and federal regulatory compliance requirements continue to increase and new safety and environmental concerns emerge around the country, we find ourselves absorbing rising costs over which we have no control. The majority of these costs result from increased environmental and regulatory compliance, added security requirements, rising insurance costs, increased training, and other fees related to energy and water management activities.
What factors are included in the “Environmental” component of the EIS Fee?
Permitting and environmental compliance are included in the Environmental component of the EIS Fee. Reworld™ takes extensive measures to ensure environmental compliance is woven into all aspects of our operations. As we continue to grow our network, operations, and service offering, we incur permitting and compliance costs associated with the heavily regulated environmental services industry, and the EIS Fee ensures that we can offset these costs and provide environmentally compliant environmental services to our customers.
What factors are included in the “Insurance” component of the EIS Fee?
In response to changing global conditions, the cost of insurance continues to increase. This trend can be observed across the entire insurance market and includes an even more significant increase in the waste industry. Although Reworld™ takes extensive measures to keep insurance costs low, the changing marketplace has resulted in a significant increase in our insurance premiums and the efforts to protect and mitigate risk for our business. The EIS Fee assists Reworld™ to cover these increasing costs and ultimately provide reliable service to customers.
What factors are included in the “Security” component of the EIS Fee?
The Security component of our EIS Fee includes but is not limited to the following factors:
- Facility upgrades to continue to secure the safety of our employees, contractors, visitors, community, and assets.
- IT systems upgrades to ensure our network and data are protected and secured.
- Implementation of process changes to ensure employees, contractors, and visitors are safe when on the job or on site.
- Required additional training to ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors are aware of the measures Reworld™ is taking to protect our people, physical assets, and information, and their role in perpetuating the efforts.
- Materials and time to protect employees, contractors, and visitors from COVID-19.
How is the EIS Fee applied to an invoice?
The EIS Fee is applied at a standard rate to all environmental services provided by Reworld™ to a Reworld™ customer, excluding local, state, and federal taxes and fees. The total of the EIS Fee is shown as a separate line item on each invoice and may further be shown by service.
Does the EIS Fee apply to the entire environmental services business?
Yes, the EIS Fee applies to the entire business. Currently the EIS rate is 22.6% for our United States and Canadian business.
