Reworld™ Leads Nationwide Environmental Efforts for World Cleanup Day

September 30, 2024

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Reworld™, a leader in sustainable waste solutions, led a series of impactful volunteer events across the U.S. for World Cleanup Day, with teams representing dozens of volunteers cleaning parks, beaches and roadways in more than 20 locations. From Alabama to Hawaii, Reworld™ employees and volunteers took action to tackle environmental challenges and help clean and beautify communities in need.

Chief Sustainability Officer Tequila Smith highlighted the company’s dedication to environmental health: “Our World Cleanup Day efforts showcase, with so many of our employees volunteering their time and effort, not only our commitment to sustainability and giving back to local communities at the corporate level but also on a personal level. Our teammates believe in our mission and in showcasing our commitment to the local communities where we live and work.”

Highlights for Reworld™ efforts included:

Dickerson, Maryland: Reworld™ employees and volunteers scoured Martinsburg Road in Dickerson, Maryland, picking up litter and debris along both sides of this community thoroughfare as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to beautifying local environments.

Chester, Pennsylvania: Reworld™ employees participated in a park cleanup beneath the Commodore Barry Bridge as part of its ‘Adopt-A-Park’ initiative. The team also cleared trash along Highland Avenue.

Huntsville, Alabama: Reworld™ employees participated in an ‘Adopt-A-Spot’ mile event, contributing to a cleaner and safer environment for that community.

Pasco County, Florida: In partnership with Keep Pasco Beautiful, Reworld™ organized a cleanup at Crews Lake Park, where volunteers worked to preserve natural spaces and waterways as part of a county-wide environmental effort.

Palm Beach, Florida: Employees from the Reworld™ plants in Palm Beach took part in the ‘International Coastal Cleanup,’ focusing on clearing debris from Juno Beach. This event, held in conjunction with Ocean Conservancy, aimed to combat marine pollution while preserving coastal ecosystems.

Kapolei, Hawaii: At the H-POWER facility, Reworld™ employees cleaned roadways leading into the facility, removing debris to enhance the local infrastructure and benefit nearby businesses in the industrial park.

In addition to these efforts, Reworld™ held several other cleanups nationwide. In Newark, New Jersey, teams cleaned up debris in Branch Brook Park, while Reworld™ Delaware Valley employees worked on cleaning Subaru Park and the surrounding areas. In Fairfax, Virginia, staff participated in a local cleanup, and Reworld™ SECONN partnered with ‘Save the Sound’ for a beach cleanup at Bluff Point, Connecticut. Volunteers in Hempstead, Huntington and Babylon, New York, also organized cleanups in the community surrounding their respective facilities.

In Poolesville, Maryland, Reworld™ volunteers educated the community about the company’s sustainability efforts while conducting a local cleanup. In Islip, New York, employees participated in a town-wide event, removing trash and debris from public spaces. In Camden, New Jersey, teams cleared debris from the streets and surrounding neighborhoods as part of the "Camden Strong" initiative. Meanwhile, Reworld™ volunteers joined the "Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful" event in Tampa, Florida, working to clean up McKay Bay Park.
